It is our pleasure to welcome clients old and new, to our boutique opticians practice in the heart of Greenfield, in Saddleworth.
Housed in the new Greenfield Centre, we aim to provide a welcoming atmosphere with our friendly staff who pride themselves on giving a warm and friendly greeting. Just as in Meltham and Marsden, the Greenfield team will go that extra mile to provide a professional, ethical and affordable eye care service.
While we love providing general optical services to the local community, we are also a Specialist Optometry practice. As the national leader in Performing Arts Eye Care and optical correction for Musicians, Presenters, and Media Professionals, we take pride in our status as a national leader.
In addition to all general and specialist optometry services we also provide a full hearing care service. Our registered and qualified hearing care professionals offer hearing tests, fit hearing aids and remove ear wax by both micro-suction and irrigation.

Sara
Resident Optometrist Sara graduated in 1999 and lives locally in Uppermill. She always strives to ensure a good balance between excellent clinical care and honest advice. Sara provides all our clients with a fantastic, consistent service.
Because our clients love Sara’s gentle and relaxed manner she is developing a very loyal following.

- British Association of Performing Arts Medicine Registered Practitioner (Bapam)

Liz
With 12 years experience in Optometry Elizabeth has gained higher professional qualifications in Minor Eye Conditions and has a Certificate in Glaucoma from The College of Optometrists. Elizabeth enjoys talking to her clients about their lifestyle and how that relates to their eyewear needs. She is currently working towards her BAPAM registration
In her spare time Elizabeth loves to make music and is a talented Pianist and Clarinetist. She has taken advanced clarinet lessons at the Royal Northern College of Music. She was Principal Clarinettist in the University of Bradford Symphony Orchestra and a member of the City of Hull Youth Symphonic Windband before going to university. Previously Elizabeth and her husband were part of a band that played for events and weddings.
In her spare time Elizabeth enjoys swimming, Pilates, aerobic style exercise to keep fit, and gardening.

Abigayle
Dispensing Optician / Training Manager
Sheryl’s oldest daughter, Abi, has quickly built a reputation as a Dispensing and Optical Practice Manager.
Abi puts a lot of effort into providing excellent customer service and outstanding Ophthalmic Dispensing. A Dispensing Optician in her own right, she has earned many accolades while learning her craft. Just like her Mum, Abi has extensive knowledge of ophthalmic lens design.
With a commitment to keeping Allegro Optical on top of the latest lens and material developments, Abi enables the company to always have the most up-to-date product knowledge.

Stephen
Dispensing Optician of the year 2006
Stephen recently joined the team in Greenfield from Manchester Eye Hospital
Stephen has 40 years of experience and prior to moving to Allegro Optical, he was previously the senior dispensing optician at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. Stephen was registered with The General Optical Council as an optician in 1981, choosing the profession because it was ‘people-based, science-based and medical-based all at the same time’.
An experienced speaker on low vision and paediatric dispensing Stephen is an active member of The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) its low vision committee, a low vision tutor and a practical examiner for ABDO in the North West. Stephen is also a volunteer dispensing optician for the Commonwealth Games 2022 providing eye healthcare to the athletes and team officials as part of its three polyclinics.

Claire
Dispensing Optician
“Local girl” Claire is both a Dispensing Optician and lab technician and she brings a wealth of experience to the team.
With a fantastic eye for fashion, Claire is the “go to” woman for frame advice. With her encyclopaedic knowledge of lens types, she is able to advise on all kinds of vision correction. In her spare time, Claire loves to play tennis and is partial to stand up comedy shows.

Charlene
Clinical Support / Administrator
Charlene has extensive experience in hearing care administration and is now applying her skills to optics. She always does her best to ensure our client’s journey of care in our practices are as smooth as possible. Charlene will always take the time to answer your questions, with a smile.

James
Clinical Support Technician & Trainee Manager
James came to Allegro Optical through his musical connections. He is a very talented young Euphonium player and currently plays with the Championship Section Oldham Lees Brass Band. James performs an essential role in practice, in fact, he is the glue that holds it all together. He supports the clinical team and makes sure that everything runs smoothly. He is always available to assist patients in any way he can and he always goes that extra mile.

Ferzana
Hearing Aid Audiologist (HAA)
Following a career in victim support Ferzana wanted a change of career and followed her sister into Audiology. Six years on and Ferzana loves her job, she says it is the perfect balance between clinical and social. Ferzana dreams of safari holidays in places such as Kenya or Tanzania and she would love the opportunity to turn back time and have a chat with Nelson Mandela.

Harriet
Hearing Care Nurse
Harriet first qualified in Adult Nursing from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2008. She started her nursing life in a Community role in Chadderton, Oldham developing her clinical skills (including ear wax removal) whilst also fostering a caring and compassionate approach.
Harriet has since had a small brood of 3 children which saw her want to change her work and life balance to set up Open Ears in September 2021. Harriet attended further training at Rotherham Ear Care Centre in both manual ear wax removal as well as irrigation and microsuction techniques.
Oddly Harriet loves seeing all the wax coming out of customers’ ears and knowing that she has an impact on their improved hearing.
